Fire marshal investigates 3 arson cases

The state fire marshal's office is investigating the intentional burning of two vehicles and a storage shed in Ellicott City this week.

At about 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, a 1982 Honda motorcycle was found on fire in the 4300 block of College Ave., police said. The motorcycle was destroyed. It had been left on the road after an accident three days ago, police said.

About an hour later, a car cover on a 1976 Saab was set afire in the 2800 block of Pinewick Road, destroying the cover and damaging the car's paint, police said. The homeowner extinguished the fire, police said.

And at about 1:50 a.m. yesterday, someone set fire to a storage shed in the 2800 block of Pinewick Road, police said. The shed was destroyed.

The state's fire marshal's office is investigating the fires, which may be connected, police said.

Investigators could not be reached for comment yesterday.

* Elkridge: 7300 block of Gardenview Drive: Someone took $40 of firewood

from a yard Monday or Tuesday.

5800 block of Rowanberry Drive: Someone scratched the driver's side door of a 1991 Chevrolet truck Sunday or Monday.

6800 block of Athol Ave.: A door was kicked in Wednesday, but entry wasn't gained.

* Ellicott City: 2800 block of Bethany Lane: Someone fired a weapon, possibly a pellet gun, at seven church windows between Nov. 6 and 8.

4600 block of Sheppard Lane: A $20 mailbox was destroyed between Friday and Sunday.

8700 block of Old Annapolis Road: A $130 Duke University Starter jacket was stolen from a locker at Howard High School on Wednesday.
