Sounds of Victory to tour area this weekend

A gospel quartet from Virginia will perform Sunday at a Maryland City church, as part of a weekend tour of the area.

The Sounds of Victory will be at the 11 a.m. service at the Maryland City Congressional Methodist Church.

The Staunton, Va., group, consisting of a school teacher, a principal and two bankers, will perform Saturday at the First Methodist Church on Main Street in Laurel.

Break-in reported at construction site

Someone broke into a home under construction in Severn Monday or Tuesday and stole an air conditioning unit worth $1,200.

The owner of the home, Robert Allen Loeffler, a foreman for Ryland Homes, told police the break-in occurred at the house in the 1800

block of Cruet Lane.

A police report says the suspect broke a basement window. Police said there were numerous shoe prints in the area.


Honor graduate Danek accepted to grad school

Jennifer Carin Danek of Crofton graduated magna cum laude in June from the University of California at San Diego.

Ms. Danek, who was elected to Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, has been accepted to graduate school at the University of California - San Francisco Medical School for the fall 1993 semester, and is currently working in Central America as a volunteer with a Nicaraguan health-care network.
