Improvement Association to elect officers

The Arundel Improvement Association will elect officers for 1993 during the monthly meeting at 8 p.m. today in the association's hall, 705 Cross St., Brooklyn Park.

Nominations will be accepted from the floor for president, vice president, secretary and treasurer, and for the seven members of the board of governors, said Frances Jones, who has been the group's president for 11 years. New officers will be installed Dec. 20.

The association also will make final plans for its annual Santa Claus program, now in its 49th year. Each year, members stuff Christmas stockings with a toy and candy and deliver one to each child in more than 1,100 homes east of Ritchie Highway.

This year, four Santas and other volunteers will deliver stockings and fruit to children Dec. 14-16.

Brooklyn Park company reports equipment thefts

Someone broke into several storage sheds and cars at a Brooklyn Park contracting company over the weekend, making off with tools and concrete working equipment, police said yesterday.

Brooke Thompson, the owner of National Concrete Contractors, told police he did not know how much was taken.

A police report said locks on several sheds had been cut off and the fence surrounding the property was cut in two places. But nothing in the sheds had been disturbed.

The report said hand tools were taken out of three tool boxes that were in the open beds of pickup trucks.
