Quarry tour planned

Genstar Stone Products Co. will conduct a tour and public information meeting Wednesday to inform residents about plans to expand its Medford operations.

The company has submitted a plan to Carroll County officials to expand its pits along the former Medford Road between Route 31 and Nicodemus Road. County law requires the company to sponsor a public tour and meeting as part of the approval process.

Participants will gather at the County Office Building at 1:30 p.m. for the tour. The community meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Comfort Inn in Westminster.

For more information about the tour and meeting, call Mary Kraus at Genstar, 527-4186.

Residents also may send written comments about Genstar's plans to the Carroll County Planning and Zoning Commission, 225 N. Center St., Westminster, Md. 21157.

Zoning board approves vehicle parking area

The Carroll Board of Zoning Appeals has given Craig L. Simpson of Hampstead permission to park commercial vehicles used in his lawn maintenance business on his property in the 2400 block of Coon Club Road.

The board said the barn and three sheds the vehicles will be parked in are not easily visible from adjacent properties because of trees and the topography.

Mr. Simpson will be parking four vehicles, four trailers, three tractors and six mowers, according to the board's written decision.
