Cincinnati Reds -- Named Pat Kelly, a former minor-league catcher who played three major-league games for the Toronto Blue Jays in 1980, manager of Double-A Chattanooga.

Little League Baseball -- Selected the following as directors: Sally John, the wife of former major-league pitcher Tommy John; Maurice "Bud" Albright; John Chitty; James Cole; Larry Heyeck; and Edwin Plys.


Miami Heat -- Signed holdout F Grant Long (14.8 ppg, 8.4 rpg in 1991-92).


Indianapolis Colts -- Placed OT Bill Schultz (strained ankle ligament) on IR. Signed OT Ron Mattes, formerly of the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks.
