25 Years Ago (week of Nov. 5-11, 1967):

* County parents were advised by police to be on the lookout for explosives after 50 sticks of high explosives were stolen from a construction site on Windmere Way.

* Jane Irby of Washington Boulevard was the winner of this

year's Howard County Junior Miss pageant. Miss Irby, a student at the Peabody Conservatory, sang her rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" for the talent portion.

50 Years Ago (week of Nov. 8-14, 1942):

* Members of the Clarksville Minute Men were sent to the farm of Melvin Wessel to investigate the report of a small parachute dropping into a field near Wessel's home. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the parachute was attached to a weather instrument belonging to the Weather Bureau in Washington.
