Concert to provide 'Harvest for Hungry'

The U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus of Washington will perform the fourth annual "Harvest for the Hungry" concert at 3 p.m. next Sunday in the Health/Life Fitness complex of Dundalk Community College, 7200 Sollers Point Road.

Guests at the free concert are asked to bring such non-perishable items as canned vegetables, peanut butter and jelly, and tuna fish. The Maryland Food Bank will distribute the donations to local food kitchens and homeless missions. Financial contributions will be forwarded to the Maryland Food Committee.

The most successful "Harvest for the Hungry" concert drive at Dundalk raised about $17,000 worth of food for the Maryland Food Bank and $2,436 to the Maryland Food Committee.

ART '92

ART '92, the third annual art exhibition and sale to benefit the Baltimore Choral Arts Society, will run Saturday through Nov. 29 at the Conference Center at the Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital, 6501 N. Charles St. The show will include paintings, photographs and sculptures by 25 regional artists. Hours for the exhibition are noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. (The sale will be closed Thanksgiving Day.)

The Baltimore Choral Arts Society, a chorus and orchestra under the direction of Tom Hall, presents classical music, new choral and orchestral works, and special commissions.

An opening reception to meet the artists is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at a cost of $40 per person. For reception reservations and details about the art show, call (410) 523-7070.

Forum for musicians

A forum for musicians and educators to discuss the future of the vocal recital will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the John Addison Concert Hall at Harmony Hall Regional Center in Fort Washington. The guest moderator is Joanne Hoover, executive director of the Levine School of Music in Washington. Baritone James Watson and the Liederliebe Ensemble will perform mini-recitals. Tickets to the daylong singer's forum and evening recital by tenor William Shields are $20 for general admission and $15 for seniors and students. For details, call (301) 292-2839.

HCC art exhibit

Howard Community College is seeking applications from local and regional artists in all media to exhibit in HCC's Art Gallery for the 1993-'94 season. The deadline for applications is Dec. 1. For details and an application, call (410) 964-4940.
