County to distribute federal shelter money

The county Department of Social Services is seeking local homeless shelters and food pantries to receive federal money for food and shelter. More than $183,857 in Federal Emergency Management Agency money will be given to local shelters and kitchens. Information: 974-8616 or 974-8597.

State seeks owners of unclaimed cash

The state comptroller's office is looking for the owners of unclaimed cash. Wednesday, the office will advertise the names of 10,852 Marylanders in newspapers across the state, including The Sun, who have not claimed after five years cash owed them by financial institutions, insurance companies, utilities and corporations.

The office returned $5,724,346 in unclaimed cash to 8,506 people in fiscal year 1992.
