Baseball Houston Astros -- Announced that IF Casey Candeale has agreed to terms on a one-year contract.
Milwaukee Brewers -- Promoted Chris Bando, manager at Double-A El Paso last season, to their Triple-A team, the location of which is not yet determined.
Montreal Expos -- Announced that manager Felipe Alou has agreed to a two-year contract.
Texas Rangers -- Purchased the contract of P Terry Burrows from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
College NCAA -- Restored the eligibility of Chris Webber, Jalen Rose and Eric Riley, Michigan basketball players who had been suspended for their involvement in a charity tournament, and cleared Webber, Rose, Riley and two other unidentified Michigan players for accepting fees to speak at high school basketball camps.
Holy Cross -- Named Bill Bellerose associate athletic director and business manager.
Louisiana State -- Announced that G Maurice Williamson and G Jamie Brandon have been suspended from the basketball team for the fall semester because of a "lack of academic responsibility."
Wisconsin-Green Bay -- Suspended F Larry Hill indefinitely from the basketball team for failing to attend classes and practices.
Hockey New Jersey Devils -- Sent RW Bill Guerin to AHL Utica.
San Jose Sharks -- Recalled D Tom Pederson from IHL Kansas City.
Football Denver Broncos -- Added LB John Kacherski to the active roster. Placed LB John Sullins and WR Cedric Tillman on their developmental squad.
Kansas City Chiefs -- Placed CB Albert Lewis and TE Mike Dyal on IR. Re-signed RB Bill Jones. Waived WR Michael Smith from the practice squad.
New Orleans Saints -- Re-signed WR-KR Patrick Newman.
San Francisco 49ers -- Moved WR John Taylor to the practice squad. Deleted DE Mark Thomas from the practice squad. Both remained on IR.
