The Carroll County Branch No. 8521 of the Lutheran Brotherhood recently celebrated its 10th anniversary at a dinner at the Union Bridge Fire Hall.

Claudius Elmore, president, announced that the Lutheran Brotherhood through Care & Share, Friends in Deed and Disaster Relief had given more than $6,200 to local families in need of food and clothing, and to organizations. A check for $6,200 was presented to Carroll County agencies that work with the developmentally challenged.

These people were elected officers: Claudius Elmore, president; Thomas Devilbiss, vice president; Darleen Weller, secretary; Doris Dell, treasurer; Joan Hayden, service officer; Bob Schumaker, education officer and Evelyn Babylon, publicity officer. Craig and Lois Giles were elected Respecteen coordinators.

New Windsor council receives award

The chairman of the countywide service day program held last month has presented the New Windsor Town Council with an appreciation award for its participation in the event.

During last Wednesday's monthly meeting, Jack Gullo, vice president of Maryland Midland Railway, gave the council the certificate, signed by Governor William Donald Schaefer.

Micki Smith, attending the meeting as a town citizen but acting as a representative of the Carroll County government, said the county commissioners also sent congratulations on a job well done.
