Postal Service announces Veterans Day hours

Richard W. Rudez, customer services manager for the United States Postal Service, said the Westminster Post Office will offer window services from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Veterans Day.

The post office is at 83 E. Main St.


* Westminster: City officials reported that a $100 fire extinguisher was stolen after someone damaged the case Nov. 5 in the Gilbert Garage on East Main Street.

A motorcycle was damaged when someone removed the throttle cable while the bike was parked on East Main Street Nov. 5. Henry Hepner, the owner, estimated the damage at $30.

A soda machine was damaged, and $29.90 was stolen from the dispenser in front of the Giant Food store at North Center Street and Route 140 on Nov. 5.


* Westminster: Firefighters from Reese and Westminster were dispatched to the Carroll County General Hospital at 8:38 p.m. Nov. 5 when an automatic fire alarm began sounding. An investigation determined that the alarm had malfunctioned and there was no fire.

Westminster and Pleasant Valley firefighters responded to an oven fire in the 300 block of Uniontown Road at 3:29 p.m. Nov. 7.
