Bank robber drops the cash

SYKESVILLE -- A man wearing a dark-colored mask robbed the Columbia Bank Friday, but left money behind after a dye pack exploded, police said.

According to police, a man walked into the bank in the 6200 block of Sykesville Road about 7:30 p.m. Friday. He pulled out a gun, demanded money from a teller and left with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

As the man was leaving the bank property, a dye pack with the money exploded, and the man dropped much of the cash, police said, He drove away in what is believed to be a dark-colored pickup truck.

No one was injured, police said, and no one has been arrested.
