Majestic stays perfect in girls soccer

The Maryland Majestic under-13 girls soccer team remained unbeaten and unscored upon in Washington Area Girls Soccer League Division III play last weekend with a 4-0 win over the Chantilly (Va.) Classic.

Bridget White had two goals, and Amanda Berman and Natalie Cox added one each.

The Majestic has outscored its opponents, 41-0.

* Under-10 -- The Columbia Fury defeated the Gunston (Va.) Shooting Stars, 3-1, in a Washington Area Girls Soccer League game Sunday.

* Under-14 1/2 -- The Columbia Cougars dropped a 2-1 decision last weekend to the Braddock Road (Va.) Lightning in Washington Area Girls Soccer League action.

* 10 -- The Centennial Blasters improved to 7-1 in Soccer Association of Columbia neighborhood play last weekend with a 5-1 win over Long Reach.

* 12-13 -- Lindsay Borys ran her scoring streak to six games, as King's Contrivance No. 2 shut out Wilde Choice No. 1, 2-0, Saturday in Soccer Association of Columbia neighborhood action.

* First-place Centennial No. 2 (6-0) maintained its position with a 2-0 win over Long Reach.

* Fourth-place Oakland Mills (3-1-2) and fifth-place Centennial No. 1 (2-1-3) battled to a 1-1 draw.

* Hickory Ridge was a 2-1 victor over Wilde Choice No. 2, and King's Contrivance No. 1 got a forfeit win over Centennial No. 3.

Boys soccer

* 12-13 -- After beginning the year with four straight losses, Long Reach won its third consecutive game Saturday to move back into contention in the Soccer Association of Columbia Neighborhood League's B2 Division. Long Reach beat Centennial No. 1, 3-0.

* David Sowers scored off a corner kick from Michael Beckman with 30 seconds to play, giving first-place Hickory Ridge a 1-1 tie with second-place Centennial No. 2.

In the other B2 game, King's Contrivance picked up its first victory of the season with a 1-0 win over Wilde Choice. Sean McGuinn put in a rebound for the only goal.

* In the B1 Division, Owen Brown defeated Hickory Ridge, 1-0.

* Wilde Choice got goals from Chris Miles and Tyler Mitchell to tie Oakland Mills, 2-2.

* In A Division play, King's Contrivance No. 2 and Hickory Ridge remained tied for first with a 0-0 draw. Matt McDaniel, Bobby Love, Jay Garbeck and Kerry Fitzgerald led Hickory Ridge's effort.

Football

Four A-level title games will be played Saturday at the Maryland Football Association championships.

The games, featuring the top Pop Warner teams in Maryland, begin at 10 a.m. at Cedar Lane Park's Phase I on Cedar Lane in Columbia. The schedule is as follows:

* A level:

8-10 division: Northwood vs. Woodlawn, 10 a.m., Field I; 10-12: Northwood vs. Woodlawn, noon, Field I; 11-13: Northwood vs. Columbia, 2 p.m., Field I; 9-11: Hanlon Park vs. Columbia, 4 p.m., Field I.

* B level:

8-10: Catonsville vs. Loch Raven, 11 a.m., Field II; 9-11: Woodlawn vs. Northwood, 3 p.m., Field II; 9-11: Woodlawn vs. Randallstown, 5 p.m., Field II; 10-12: Hanlon Park vs. Randallstown, 7 p.m., Field II.

* C Level:

9-11: Rosedale vs. Stembridge, 1 p.m., Field II; 10-12: Howard County vs. Loch Raven, 6 p.m., Field I.

* 9-11 -- The Howard County Trojans advanced to the final of the Maryland Football Association playoffs Saturday with a 13-6 victory over Highlandtown.

Running back Kye Snell scored both Trojans touchdowns. The Trojans will play host to Stembridge in Saturday's final at Rockburn Park in Ellicott City.

* 11-13 -- The Howard County Trojans defeated Rosedale, 14-6, Saturday in the consolation game of the Maryland Football Association playoffs.
