Freshman forwards Beth Blasi and Courtney Benner scored two goals each to spark No. 12 Fallston past Overlea, 7-0, in a Class 2A-1A, Region III semifinal last night at Fallston.

The Cougars (9-3) advance to the regional title game against No. 14 Loch Raven, a 4-0 winner over North Harford in the other semifinal game. The championship is set for tomorrow at Fallston, but the time has yet to be determined.

The top-seeded Cougars will be seeking revenge when they meet the third-seeded Raiders. Last year, Loch Raven eliminated Fallston from the regional playoffs.

"We have a little incentive there, and I'll take any edge I can get," said Cougars coach Nancy Ferguson.

Last night, Fallston scored early and often as it dominated Overlea (7-4-2) with 27 shots.

Blasi scored first on a short punch from Joanna Rocchio 8 minutes into the game. Benner followed with back-to-back headers off passes from Kristy Pugh and Cindy Jenkins to put Fallston ahead 3-0 with 17:42 left in the first half.

Rocchio added a fourth goal in the final 37 seconds. Blasi, Megan Tulley and Pam Toth scored unassisted in the second half.

Fallston's defense held the Falcons to four shots on goal. Fullbacks Jenkins and Laura Snyder, sweeper Beth Rappold, stopper Tulley and center halfback Toth kept the Falcons out of scoring range most of the game.

Keeper Suzy Harrison handled the ball only a handful of times and had to make just one save.

Overlea had its best chance to score late in the first half when Amie Palm's perfect pass rolled across in front of the net. But it went by three Falcons, who failed to knock it in.
