Some new blood made a strong showing on tracks last week.

Jarrod Spicer of Woodbine won the Junior Dragster League in his Next Generation 140-inch dragster at Mason-Dixon Dragway last Sunday. Spicer, the son of Lou and Phyllis Spicer, ran a 15.25 ET on a 15.10 Dial-In on a .536 reaction time.

It was Westminster residents one and two in the Trail-Way eight-cylinder stock feature race. Mark Shorb got his first Trail-Way victory of the season and Corky Stull was second last Sunday night. Brad Green, another Westminster resident, was a heat winner in the four-cylinder division at Trail-Way.

Westminster's Gary Stuhler -- a name that has been heard plenty this season -- was second in the late-model feature at Hagerstown Speedway. Charlie Schaffer, a Hampstead resident, was fourth in the same late-model race.

Cris Eash of Hanover, a former Woodbine resident, was eighth in the Super Sprint Octoberfest 250 feature race. Manchester resident Jesse Wentz ran into some bad luck in that race when his car flipped.

At 75-80 Dragway, Len Davis of Westminster won the Super Comp Race, going four rounds of the eliminations in his Davis Family Dragster.

Chris Hruska of Mount Airy won the Class II in his Mustang, and Marion Ford of Hampstead won the motorcycle division. Roger Jorss of Sykesville was a runner-up in Class II in his Chevelle. Mike Stambaugh of Union Bridge was a semifinalist in his Fairmont in the same class.

Brian Fandell of Mount Airy was a semifinalist in the motorcycles. Finishing as quarterfinalists were Jeff Davis and Rick Waxter of Westminster in Class II and Wayne Selby of Sykesville in Class I.
