Baseball Major League Baseball -- Approved the sale of the Houston Astros from John McMullen to Drayton McLane Jr., pending approval of final documentation.

Boston Red Sox -- Named Mike Easler hitting coach.

Cincinnati Reds -- Named Tony Perez manager and signed him to a one-year contract. Named Don Gullett bullpen coach, Ron Oester first-base coach and Dave Miley bench coach. Announced that pitching coach Larry Rothschild will return.

Cleveland Indians -- Signed P Ted Power to a one-year contract.

Colorado Rockies -- Named Don Zimmer bench coach. Signed P Balvino Galvez, C Gilberto Reyes and IF Trent Hubbard to minor-league contracts.

Kansas City Royals -- Exercised their option for 1993 on the contract of DH George Brett. Named Bob Hegman their director of minor-league operations.

Bowie (Double-A) -- Named Tim Drummond off-season director of youth activities.
