SHA to discuss plans for East-West Highway

The State Highway Administration will conduct two meetings to discuss the latest plans for the completion of East-West Highway.

The first is an informational meeting, at which county residents can look at displays and talk to representatives of the SHA, project manager Allan Straus said. The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 9 at Severna Park High School.

The second meeting will be a formal public hearing on the proposed alternatives, with comment being taken for the record, Mr. Straus said. That meeting is scheduled for Dec. 9, with discussion beginning at 4:30 p.m. and a presentation following.

The SHA's four study alternatives are all viable options, Mr. Straus emphasized. They are: not to build at all; the master plan alignment for East-West Boulevard; reconstruction of Brightview/Obrecht Road; and improvements to Benfield Road.
