Man charged in theft from Glen Burnie store

A Baltimore man was charged with theft and carrying a handgun Monday after store employees at Glen Burnie Mall reported a shoplifting.

Gary Monroe Smith, 22, of the 2400 block of Wilgrey Court, was charged after he allegedly told police he had a 9mm handgun in a diaper bag.

According to the police report, officers were called to the Montgomery Ward store at Glen Burnie Mall at 7 p.m., where employees reported that a man, woman and two children had left the store with $125.93 in clothing they hadn't paid for.

Pizza delivery man robbed of $20

A pizza delivery man was robbed of $20 by two men in the Valley Brook apartment complex Tuesday, county police said. Detectives said the delivery man was standing in front of the 100 block of Sloane Drive, counting his money, when two men ran up and one of them grabbed a $20 bill out of his hand.

Telephone company renovates building

Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co. has renovated its building near the Superblock and is starting to use it for conferences, a company spokesman said this week.

In addition, the company plans to move a small number of operators there in December. The building is located at 215 Ritchie Lane.

* Americana Southdale Apts.: A resident of the 7800 block of Americana Circle told police that her storage shed was broken into last week. A bicycle and several cases of motor oil were stolen.

* Marley Station Mall: An Annapolis man told police that someone stole his 12-speed racing bicycle that he left outside of the mall Friday.
