Universal Security Instruments Inc.

October 29, 1992

This Owings Mills-based maker of security, video and telecommunication products reported a second-quarter loss yesterday primarily because of a one-time charge of $139,373 related to its pursuit of an insurance claim involving a March 1990 fire at its headquarters.

Without the charge, income would have been $52,442, or 2 cents a share. That would have been 56 percent less than the same period a year ago.
