News Director Mark Pimentel is leaving WBFF-Channel 45 to take over the news operation at WXIA-TV, the NBC affiliate in Atlanta.

Mr. Pimentel joined Baltimore's Fox affiliate two years ago and helped the station start a local news operation from scratch.

"It's a day of mixed emotions," Mr. Pimentel said yesterday after meeting with his staff. "I feel like the father of the 10 o'clock news, and I hate to leave just as it's becoming so successful. But this is an opportunity I couldn't pass up."

Mr. Pimentel had worked at the Atlanta station before coming to Channel 45. Baltimore is the nation's 22nd-largest market, while Atlanta is 10th largest. Mr. Pimentel's last day at Channel 45 will be Nov. 6. "Mark has taken us to a level we're proud of in local news," General Manager Steve Marks said.
