* Miss Christina Lynn Lockard, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Lockard, and representing the Reese and Community Fire Company, was chosen Carroll County Fire Queen at the annual Carroll County Firemen's Ball at Frock's Sunnybrook Farm, Westminster. Miss Lockard is a junior at the Westminster High School. Democratic Advocate, Oct. 12, 1967.

* County agent Grover Kinzy spoke at the recent meeting of the Union Bridge Farmers Club at the hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. James Beacham. He spoke of the bright boy who went to the city as bookkeeper having only nine hours' work on one line. The country boy works from daylight till dark doing all kinds of work. He spoke on the different diseases of the cabbage and how to prevent them by changing the seed bed, by plowing and using lime in the fall and by spraying. Union Bridge Pilot, Oct. 5, 1917.
