Parade, game expected to draw thousands to Naval 0) Academy's Homecoming

It's Homecoming Weekend at the U.S. Naval Academy.

More than 5,000 academy graduates and their families are expected to visit Annapolis for a weekend of fun, beginning with a parade at 3:45 p.m. today on Worden Field.

Presidents and representatives from 13 classes will join retired Adm. Robert L.J. Long, chairman of the board of the Naval Academy Alumni Association, in reviewing the parade.

The Navy football team hopes to end its losing streak by beating Delaware on Saturday. The game starts at 1:30 p.m. at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Rowe Boulevard.

Edgewater man, 20, charged in theft

County police have charged a 20-year-old Edgewater man with stealing $9,404 worth of jewelry from a home in the 1600 block of Bay Ridge Road Oct. 6.

Police said a tip led them to Wesley Eric Markland, of the 1600 block of Oldtown Road.

Detectives found about $3,400 worth of the stolen jewelry when they made the arrest, police said.


* Edgewater:The storage shed outside a home in the 200 block of Mayo Ave. was broken into Tuesday. The value of the property taken was not known.
