Counselors group opposes Question 6

Concerned Counselors Against Question 6 will hold a news conference at noon today in the parking lot behind the County Office Building, 225 N. Center St., Westminster, to air objections to the item on the Nov. 3 ballot.

The group is a statewide organization of counseling professionals who say the proposed change in the law would:

* Interfere with giving a woman a full range of options and resources before she decides whether to have an abortion.

* Obstruct involving parents or guardians in counseling minors.

POLICE LOG

* Westminster: A 14-year-old student was arrested last Friday for allegedly possessing a telephone pager on school property. He was later released to his parents.

Since October 1989 it has been a violation for a student to have a pager on school property. The only exemption is for a volunteer firefighter with written approval from the fire company and permission from the parents, according to school officials.

A Tyrone woman was victimized by a tire slasher on Mathias Court last Thursday. Anna Hartnett, the victim, reported that the loss was about $80.

A battery valued at $40 was stolen from an automobile belonging to John Hutcheson while the car was parked near his house on Johahn Drive on Sunday.
