Telephone out of reach? Just order your pizza by TV

October 16, 1992|By Leslie Cauley | Leslie Cauley,Staff Writer

You've heard of ordering pizza by telephone. But ordering pizza by -- television?

Domino's Pizza Inc. said yesterday that it has struck a deal with TV Answer, a Reston, Va.-based company, that will allow customers to order pizza by television starting next year. That's when TV Answer begins rolling out its interactive television services nationwide.

The pizza-by-TV service would work something like this: TV Answer customers who want a pizza but don't want to stand up can use their TV clicker. Pick a pie, click on a few ingredients and add a side of salad and a soft drink. The company's satellite network processes the order in about seven seconds, sending it to the closest participating Domino's.
