Council hears details of post office expansion

An expanded Severna Park post office will feature archeopenings and wrought-iron inserts, Greater Severna Park Council President Pat Troy told the council Tuesday night.

Ms. Troy said the council's zoning representative, Jim Gutman, has received a letter from the county describing plans for the post office, which is under construction.

"We have done very well with this," Ms. Troy said.

The new post office will be made of two-tone brick, with 2-foot indentations at several locations to vary the visual perspective. The area along the public sidewalk will be planted with evergreens, and there will be a 4-foot planting area between the road and the parking lot.

The county office of Planning and Zoning has suggested a sign with 4-foot letters.

Keyes to speak at breakfast meeting

U.S. Senate candidate Alan Keyes will be the guest speaker at today's breakfast meeting of the Elephant Club of Severna Park, set for 7:30 a.m. at the Magic Dish Restaurant.

Information: 647-6919.
