3 teens face 24 counts in mailbox destruction

County police have charged three teen-agers with 24 counts of destruction of property for allegedly smashing some 60 mailboxes in Crownsville, Millersville and Crofton.

Albert William Niemann III, 19, of the 600 block of Olympia Court in Davidsonville; Michael Scott Rencher, 19, of the 100 block of Summer Village Drive in Annapolis; and Raymond Vincent Plumb, 19, of the 3700 block of Ridgewood Road in Davidsonville, were taken to Southern District to be charged.

Detectives said officers were called to a home in the 2900 block of South Lake Drive in Davidsonville at 1:48 a.m. yesterday for a complaint of a mailbox that had been destroyed.

Witnesses gave police a description of a car that was seen leaving the area.

Officers stopped that car a short time later on St. George Barger Road and found a baseball bat that they suspected was used to destroy the mailbox in the car.

Police believe the teen-agers are responsible for destroying other mail boxes in the Crownsville, Millersville and Crofton areas.
