Baltimore City

SHOOTING: Eastern District -- Carlos Ware, 30, of the 600 block of Bartlett Ave., is listed in stable condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center after being wounded by a shotgun blast Monday night. Mr. Ware, along with several other people, was watching two men fight in the 400 block of Heaver St. around 8:15 p.m. when someone behind the crowd fired a shotgun, striking Mr. Ware in the upper back.

ASSAULT/ARRESTS: Central District -- Two men were arrested Sunday night after a handgun was pointed at a man in the 300 block of McMechen St. The pair drove off in a Jeep that was seen later traveling east in the 700 block of W. North Ave. Police stopped the vehicle in the 200 block of W. North Ave. and found in it a loaded semi-automatic handgun and several rounds of ammunition. The incident grew out of a dispute with the victim, who was not injured. Both men were being held at the police station pending charges of assault by pointing a handgun, assault and possession of a deadly weapon.

THEFT: Central District -- Several pairs of shoes valued at $560 were stolen Sunday night from a car in the 100 block of St. Paul St.

THEFT: Central District -- A wallet containing $20 was stolen Sunday afternoon by someone who picked the lock of a car in the 200 block of E. Pratt St.

AUTO THEFT: Central District -- A 1992 Volkswagen bearing state license plates ZSM-589 was stolen between Friday and Sunday from the 1200 block of Division St.

THEFT: Central District -- A 1987 Chevrolet owned by an out-of-town resident was broken into Sunday night in the 300 block of W. Lombard St. by someone who stole property valued at $210.

ABDUCTION/ARRESTS: Northern District -- Four men were arrested and are being held pending charges they abducted a resident of the 2400 block of Brentwood Ave. at gunpoint early Monday morning and drove him to the 300 block of E. Lorraine Ave. The victim was struck with a gun several times before being thrown out of the car.

SCHOOL BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone broke through a rear window of the Roland Park Elementary-Middle School in the 5200 block of Roland Ave. between Sunday night and Monday morning and damaged several doors in an attempt to enter classrooms. It was not known if anything was taken.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A 26-inch multispeed bike was stolen Sunday when someone forced the door to a garage in the 5300 block of St. Alban's Way.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A man broke into a house in the 2900 block of Edgecombe Circle South Sunday night, but fled without taking anything when the occupant's son chased the intruder out of the house.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- A resident of the 900 block of Northhill Road was walking in the 500 block of McCabe Ave. Sunday morning when she was assaulted by a man she knows who robbed her of a small sum of money. Later, police arrested the man and were holding him at the station pending charges.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone broke into a house in the 3000 block of Frisby St. Sunday and stole the keys to the occupant's car. The burglar got into the house by climbing a tree, jumping onto a roof and then opening a window.

OFFICER ASSAULTED:: Southeastern District -- Three Baltimore County women were arrested Monday morning and charged with assaulting Officer Annette Guarino. While patrolling the 1700 block of Dundalk Ave. around 1 a.m., the officer saw a car parked in an area known for drug activity with its engine running and two women inside. A check indicated the vehicle's tags were stolen. When a third woman left an apartment and got into the car, the officer approached and told the driver to turn off the engine. Instead, the driver put the car in forward gear and drove past Officer Guarino, brushing her left side and causing her to fall to the ground. The car was pursued into Baltimore County, where it was stopped on Sollers Point Road. Charged with assaulting a police officer and theft of auto tags were Deborah Staudt, of the 8100 block of Grayhaven Road; Jennifer Burton of the 7900 block of St. Claire Road, and Patricia Barron, of the 2800 block of Nathaniel Way. Ms. Staudt, the driver, also was charged with possession of narcotics paraphernalia. All three were held in the women's detention center pending a bail hearing in District Court.

BURGLARY/ARREST: Southeastern District -- Responding to a theft from auto in progress in the first block of S. Ann St. at 3:30 a.m. Monday, Officer Philip Palmere arrested Frederick Sawyer, of the 600 block of N. Port St., who was found hiding in the back of a van. On the front seat was an electric drill that was taken from the back of the van. Mr. Sawyer was being held at the station pending a bail hearing.

THEFT: Southeastern District -- Property valued at $250 was stolen from a vehicle over the weekend by someone who broke a window while it was parked in the 400 block of S. Broadway.
