October 12, 1992

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its second annual golf tournament at Wakefield Valley Golf Club on Friday.

The event begins at 11:15 a.m. with a free golf clinic by Bill Madonna of Pro-Motion Golf School. Lunch will be served, followed by 18 holes of golf, cocktails and an awards dinner.

The special guest speaker will be Art Donovan, pro football Hall of Famer and former Baltimore Colt. Other celebrities expected to make appearances include Hall of Famer John Unitas, a former Colt, and Jim Palmer, former Oriole and a member of baseball's Hall of Fame.

A special feature of this year's tournament will be the Lehigh Portland Cement Co.'s $15,000 hole in one. The first contestant to ace the 186-yard par 3 on Wakefield Valley's ninth hole on the green course will win $15,000 in cash. There will be additional hole-in-one prizes and many other prizes and awards during the day.

There is still room for individuals or teams to enter the four-golfer, two-best-ball tournament. The fee is $100 per player. To register, call the chamber office at 848-9050 or 876-7212. Individual golfers are welcome.

Non-golfers can join the festivities at the awards dinner. Reservations are necessary and can be made by calling the chamber office.
