Science whizzes slated to visit space center ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY EDUCATION

Congressman Tom McMillen has announced that seven students from Anne Arundel County high schools will be included in this year's "Youth Space Initiative" sponsored by his office and Westinghouse Corp.

The program is designed to encourage young people to pursue a career in the fields of math and science. The brightest 16 students in these subjects at schools on the Eastern Shore and in Anne Arundel will tour the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and witness a space shuttle launching on Oct. 21.

County students participating this year are Lisa Bishop of South River High, Marseille Bunk of Severna Park High, Peter Carlson of North County High, Amanda Cody of Northeast High, Joseph Knudson of Broadneck High, Stuart Kraft of Old Mill High and Angela Miller of Southern High.

The group will depart from Baltimore-Washington International Airport on their two-day trip on Oct. 20.
