AHL honors Sun's Jackson

James H. Jackson, a veteran sportswriter for The Sun, was presented last night with the AHL's James H. Ellery Award, given annually to a newspaperman who has contributed substantially to the AHL and the team he covers.

The Skipjacks announced they has established an annual award, named in his honor, that will go to a player who exhibits the greatest sportsmanship, integrity and love of the game on and off the ice.

Accepting for Jackson, who is battling cancer, was his son, Jim.
