Baltimore City

ARREST: Southeastern District -- An 18-year-old man was arrested Thursday night and charged with assaulting a Housing Authority police officer by allegedly trying to run him down with a stolen car. Officer Gregory House and other housing authority and city police officers were pursuing the man after he bailed out of one stolen car in the 1300 block of E. Fayette St. about 8 p.m. The man then got into another stolen car, a 1986 Pontiac, parked in the 300 block of S. Bond St. and was about to drive off when Officer House stepped in front of the car in an attempt to arrest the man. The suspect drove toward him and Officer House fired one shot, hitting the car's roof. The officer then fell to one side and was not struck by the car. The driver abandoned the car near the Perkins Apartments and ran into an apartment in the 300 block of Mason Court, where he was arrested while taking a shower. Charged with aggravated assault and two counts of auto theft was Anthony Mayes, of the 1600 block of N. Spring St.

SHOOTING: Southeastern District -- Michael Montgomery, 20, of the 2200 block of Pinewood Ave., was shot in the right leg and right hand Wednesday night during an argument with two men in the 400 block of N. Chester St. Mr. Montgomery is listed in fair condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital. No arrests have been made.

THEFT/ARREST: Southeastern District -- A man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he attempted to leave Santoni's food market in the 3800 block of E. Lombard St. without paying for several items.

BURGLARY: Southeastern District -- Someone broke into a storage shed at Geiger Motors in the 3300 block of Pulaski Highway between Wednesday and Thursday after cutting a lock. It was not known what property was taken.

BURGLARY: Southeastern District -- Property valued at $1,300 was stolen from the Julia Community Center in the 100 block of S. Washington St. between Wednesday and Thursday after someone entered through a side door. A telephone, answering machine and a computer terminal were taken.

THEFT/ARREST: Southeastern District -- A man who attempted to leave McCrory's department store in the 500 block of N. Gay St. without paying for items valued at more than $32 Thursday was arrested and was being held at the police station pending shoplifting charges. The man was detained by a store security officer prior to the arrival of city police.

AUTO THEFT: Central District -- A 1986 Toyota was stolen Wednesday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. from the 300 block of Dolphin St.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Someone broke into a garage in the 1400 block of Park Ave. Wednesday and stole electric wiring, tools, a vacuum cleaner and an 18-inch mountain bike, all valued at $700.

THEFT: Central District -- Someone broke into a car while it was parked in the 1400 block of W. Mount Royal Ave. Wednesday night by breaking a rear vent window and stole property valued )) at $150.

ARREST: Central District -- A woman was arrested Thursday when she attempted to leave the Stop, Shop & Save store in the 700 block of W. North Ave. without paying for several food items. The woman was being held at the Women's Detention Center at the Central District pending charges and a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

ROBBERY: Central District -- A resident of the 200 block of Wilson St. was in the front yard of her home Wednesday night when she was robbed of her purse by a gunman. The purse contained cash, a pocket computer, prescription medicine and other items, all valued at more than $100.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Two men are being sought after they broke into an apartment in the 100 block of W. Centre St. Thursday and stole a TV and a computer game terminal, all valued at nearly $130.

ROBBERY: Central District -- A 24-year-old resident of the 2500 block of Maryland Ave. was walking in the 1600 block of Guilford Ave. early Wednesday morning when he was stopped by two men in a white van who asked for directions. While the victim was aiding the men, one of them pulled him inside the van. There, the victim was robbed at knifepoint of $18 before the men pushed him out of the vehicle and drove off.

THEFT: Central District -- Someone broke into a 1992 Subaru while it was parked in the 200 block of Robert St. between Wednesday night and Thursday morning and stole a radar detector, eyeglasses and a hunting knife. The property was valued at $500 and entry was gained by breaking a window.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A resident of the 300 block of E. 21st St. was walking in the 1600 block of W. North Ave. Thursday morning when she was robbed of $8 by a gunman.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A gunman robbed a resident of the 1100 block of W. North Ave. of $5 while she was in the 2700 block of Pennsylvania Ave. Thursday morning.
