8 North Carroll students cited for scholarship

North Carroll High School principal Gregory Eckles presented eight seniors with a letter of commendation from the 1993 National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

The outstanding students were Nichole Barner, Kristen Bolster, Erin Bonning, Eric Lyga, Jennifer Miller, Meghan Moore, Jamie Swam, Shannon Walter.

These students have shown exceptional academic promise by placing among the top 5 percent of over 1 million program entrants.

* Hampstead: Hampstead responded to a woods fire on Fairmount Road at 8:22 p.m. Saturday.

An Emergency Operations Center spokesman said it was a small trash fire that was contained in a few minutes.

* Lineboro: Lineboro assisted York County, Pa., on a brush fire at 2:02 p.m. Sunday on Wolfgang School Road.
