Bullets open camp with 20 questions Team will train at Shepherd College

October 05, 1992|By Alan Goldstein | Alan Goldstein,Staff Writer

With the Washington Bullets opening training camp tomorro at Shepherd College in preparation for the 1992-93 NBA season, here are 20 questions you have been dying to ask during the off-season:

1) Were there more Elvis sightings this past year than of Bernard King?

2) Will Charles Jones again average more personal fouls than points?

3) After his whirlwind tour of Europe, does rookie Tom Gugliotta have more frequent-flier miles than Tom McMillen?

4) Was that the Fuji blimp flying over RFK Stadium or an inflatable John Williams doll?

5) Now that Jim Karvellas, the Bullets original "voice," has reclaimed the mike, will he reinstitute his cry of "Bulls-eye!" after a jump shot splits the net?

6) Did reserve center Greg Foster bulk up 20 pounds this summer to gain more lift on his three-pointers?

7) Were the Bullets really interested in keeping A. J. English from defecting to Italy?

8) If Brent Price follows in brother Mark's NBA footsteps, won't the Bullets have made themselves a dandy second-round pick?

9) Can Baltimore native Rudy Archer, who played at Maryland, become the successor to last year's rookie surprise -- Larry Stewart of Coppin State?

10) Has anyone ever taken the free bus from Baltimore to the Capital Centre besides the loyal Bach brothers?

11) Now that Harvey Grant has become a $3 million man, will he follow Cal Ripken's work ethic and play through pain?

12) When head coach Wes Unseld sees his "Twiggy" front line still being pushed around, will he suit up again?

13) Now that Ledell Eackles seems willing to take a pay cut, will he also agree to cut down his calorie count?

14) How can the Bullets, with only two All-Stars (Michael Adams, Bernard King) on their roster have more salary cap problems than the New York Knicks who boast three -- Rolando Blackman, Patrick Ewing and Doc Rivers?

15) Can Rex "Wonder Boy" Chapman forget his wild, unfulfilled years in Charlotte and become the "new Jeff Malone" in Washington?

16) Can anyone really tell the difference between the Bullets' mascot "Hoops" and an oversized trash bin?

17) Is "most improved" Pervis Ellison prepared to take the next step to super-stardom?

18) Is there a public address announcer in the NBA who knows how to pronounce assistant coach Jeff Bzdelik's name?

19) Can't the Bullets come up with a better rallying cry for the new season than "You've Gotta Love This Game," or is that their way of avoiding empty promises?

20) If anyone finds his/her way to Shepherdstown, W.Va., won't you please tell us how?
