Charles Town to offer Santa Anita programs

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- Area racing fans will have the opportunity to watch and wager on Santa Anita Park's entire racing program when the Charles Town Races begin full-card simulcasts from the southern California track Wednesday.

The Santa Anita simulcasts will be offered Wednesday through Sunday in addition to Charles Town's regularly scheduled cards with post time for Santa Anita's first race at 4 p.m. Santa Anita's post time is scheduled to move to 3:30 p.m. beginning Oct. 25 with the return to Daylight Savings Time.

Charles Town also has scheduled Santa Anita simulcasts for Oct. 12 (Columbus Day) and Nov. 9 (Veterans Day).

Wagers placed at Charles Town will be commingled with those at Santa Anita Park, allowing Charles Town patrons to participate in Santa Anita's betting lineup, which consists of Win, Place, Show, Exacta, Quinella, Daily Double, Trifecta, Triple (Pick-3), Pick-6 and Pick-9 wagering.

"We've received a number of favorable comments regarding our upcoming Santa Anita simulcasts and we're hopeful they'll be well received," said track general manager Donald E. Hudson.

Charles Town will offer free admission and general parking on Columbus Day, Veterans Day and each Thursday through Nov. 5 in conjunction with its simulcasts from Santa Anita. There will be a $2 clubhouse admission charge on Fridays and Saturdays until 5 p.m.
