Crownsville man arrested on drug charges

A 30-year-old Crownsville man was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana after police found the drug in his car when they stopped him for speeding on General's Highway.

David Glen Chaplain, of the 1000 block of Dockser Drive, also was charged with speeding, and failing to appear in court on a theft charge, the police report said.

According to the report, an officer stopped Mr. Chaplain at 1:30 a.m. for speeding on Route 178 near the exit ramp to Interstate 97. When the officer checked through the police computer to see if Mr. Chaplain was wanted on other charges, he found that there was a bench warrant issued for him.

The officer arrested Mr. Chaplain and searched his car, finding loose marijuana cigarettes and two small bags of the drug, the report said.
