Glen Burnie man is shot by accident in left thigh

A Glen Burnie man was accidentally shot in the leg in Patuxent River Park on Sunday afternoon.

James George, 20, of the 100 block of Albert Drive was target-shooting with a friend in the park, police said, when he leaned the .22-caliber rifle against a tree. The rifle fell and went off, hitting Mr. George in the left thigh.

Mr. George's friend took him to Kimbrough Army Hospital, where he was in stable condition yesterday.

Man punches car, Odenton youth says

An Odenton youth told police that a man punched the side of his 1984 Pontiac Trans Am in the 500 block of Patricia Court.

The youth said he was driving slowly down Patricia Court on Thursday afternoon when he passed a man who punched the left side of the car. The youth stopped and told the man not to touch his car. The man, about 50, said he could "touch anything he pleased."

Police made no arrests.

Holes poked in lining of pool in Severn

Beverly A. Bowers, 37, of the 700 block of Elmhurst Road in the Severn area told police someone poked holes in the lining of her pool Friday.

Ms. Bowers said she had been cleaning the pool to close it down for the season when she stopped to do some errands. When she returned, she found the holes.

Cartons of cigarettes stolen in Gambrills

A man walked into the 7-Eleven store in the 2500 block of Gambrills Road early Thursday and stole five cartons of cigarettes, police said.

The clerk told police that the man came into the store at 12:35 a.m., walked over to the counter where the cigarettes where kept and grabbed five cartons of Kools.

'Trails of Terror' planned for Gambrills

Halloween is coming early to Gambrills with the Oct. 16 opening of "Trails of Terror" behind Jones Intercable at Route 3 North and St. Stephens Church Road in Gambrills.

Walks through the trails start at 7 p.m., and proceeds from the admission fee ($5 a head, the flier jests) go to benefit the Leukemia Society.

The trails will be open nightly through Halloween. They are not recommended for children under 5 years old.

* Severn: A resident of the 1900 block of Arwell Court reported that his home was broken into Sept. 25. Entry was gained through a door. Police did not know what was taken.

* Odenton: A resident of the 500 block of Higgins Drive reported someone broke into his home Sept. 23. Entry was gained through the door. Police report $2,000 worth of jewelry was taken.

* Severn: A resident of the 1800 block of Arwell Court reported someone broke into his home Sept. 25 and stole a television worth $737. Entry was gained through a door.
