Brooklyn Park youth group to elect new officers NORTH COUNTY

The Brooklyn Park Youth Athletic Association will meet at 8:30 tonight at the Northern District Police Station on Hammonds Lane. The election of officers will take place. Plan to attend.

* BPYAA will sponsor a dance from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, at the Roland Terrace Democratic Club on Matthews Avenue. The band Mainline will provide entertainment.

Tickets are $13 per person in advance, $15 per person at the door, and includes beer and setups. Door prizes will be awarded. For tickets or more information, call 636-5190 or 636-2330.

Belle Grove Elementary School news: A volunteer orientation will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Anyone in the school or community who is interested in volunteering time at the school is invited to attend.

* The fall fund-raiser is in full swing. Students are selling gift items, wrapping paper and troll accessories. Orders must be returned to school on Oct. 7. The top classroom will receive a pizza party and the top seller has a choice of $100, a boom box or a color TV.

Brooklyn Park Elementary School news: A volunteer orientation will take place at 9:15 a.m. on Friday in the teachers' lounge. All interested residents are invited to attend and learn where your services are most needed.

Park Elementary School news: Individual school pictures will be taken on Wednesday. Be sure to return your picture money and envelope on that day.

Brooklyn Park/Lindale Middle Junior High School news: The PTSA Executive Board will meet at 7 tonight in Room 207. All members are urged to attend.

North County High School news: The Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the media center. The meeting is open to the public. The committee gives residents a forum to voice their concerns about the school and neighborhood. School officials would like to see at least one representative from each community served by the school.

* At the first Band Parents meeting, the following officers were elected: Michael Holy, president; Judy Bolly, vice president; Diane Glodek, secretary; and Glenn Mohr, treasurer.

Band students are selling Gold C Coupon Books for $10. The coupons are good for discounts at restaurants and movies and more. The proceeds will be used to offset the cost of the band's spring trip to Canada. To order a book, call the school at 859-5400 before Oct. 7.

The NCHS band parents will be selling sodas at the Ferndale Day celebration on Sunday, Oct. 4 at the Third Avenue field. Stop by from noon to 5 p.m. and support the band's general fund.

* The PTSA will sponsor a flea market from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, in the cafeteria. Tables are available for $15.

Don't forget to get your tickets for the fall dance, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign War Post 10134 Ladies Auxiliary, from 8 to midnight on Saturday at the Arundel Improvement Association Hall, 705 Cross St.

Advance tickets are $8 per person; at the door $10. Donations for the cake wheel would be appreciated.
