Man seized, charged in abduction, assault

September 22, 1992

An 18-year-old man was arrested last night and charged with assaulting a teen-age girl who was abducted and kept in a house over the weekend.

Sgt. Mark Tomlin said the girl, who is 17, had been held against her will in a house in the 2700 block of Oswego Ave. since Saturday.

Police said she attempted to leave last night, but was stopped by the man, who threatened to cut her with a box cutter.

When police arrived at the house shortly after midnight, they heard the girl screaming and entered by breaking down the rear door.

Arrested in the basement following a brief scuffle with police was Mark Randolph, who lives in the house.

Sergeant Tomlin said Mr. Randolph was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, common assault and abduction. Mr. Randolph was held overnight at the station pending a bail hearing today before a District Court commissioner.

The girl was slightly hurt, police said, and returned to her home.
