Chesapeake-BC runs away to 35-8 win Football

Loch Raven High had rallied for victories in both of its previous games, but yesterday host Chesapeake-Baltimore County made last call come early for the Raiders.

The No. 12 Bayhawks (3-0) took command quickly with a crunching ground assault and went on to a 35-8 victory in a Baltimore County 2A League game at Chesapeake.

Senior fullback Keith Brown raced 49 yards to the end zone on the second play from scrimmage, sophomore James Kelly scored two touchdowns and Lamar King had his usual all-around brilliant game.

King finished with 177 yards in 18 carries, scored one touchdown and kicked an extra point. Brown added 125 yards on 12 rushes as Chesapeake gained 352 yards.

"Every time they wanted something, they gave it to the big guy," said Robert Helms, coach of Loch Raven (2-1).

St. Mary's 14, Calvert Hall 13

Linebacker Mark Zeller returned a blocked punt 32 yards for a touchdown and Mark Keifer added the point after kick in the fourth quarter as the host Saints (2-1), a member of the MSA C Conference built a 14-7 lead, then held on to stun the Cardinals (0-2), a member of the MSA A Conference. The Cardinals scored with 3 minutes left but then missed a kick for the conversion after being penalized five yards before attempting a two-point conversion.

C.M. Wright 34, N. Harford 14

Jason Tharpe rushed for 83 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns as the No. 9 Mustangs (3-0, 2-0) defeated the Hawks (0-3, 0-2), in a Harford County league game.

Woodlawn 14, Dulaney 7

Omar Johnson rushed for 128 yards on 21 carries and scored both touchdowns to lead the No. 5 Warriors (3-0, 1-0) over the Lions (0-3, 0-2).

Gilman 17, Forest Park 0

Jimmy Zimmerman ran for 114 yards on 17 carries as the No. 7 Greyhounds (2-0, 1-0) blanked the host Foresters (1-1, 0-1) in an MSA A Conference game.

Northern 26, Northwestern 6

Sean Brannun ran for two touchdowns and 245 yards on 16 carries to lead the Vikings (2-0, 1-0) past the visiting Wildcats (0-1, 0-1) in an MSA B Conference game.

Franklin 34, Sparrows Point 0

Senior quarterback William Collins scored two touchdowns, including a 96-yarder, and ran for 141 yards as the visiting Indians (2-1) routed the Pointers (0-3).

South Carroll 14, Glenelg 0

Senior running back Mike Dodd ran for 165 yards on 42 carries to lead the Cavaliers (2-1) over the Gladiators (2-1).

Dunbar 20, Edmondson 6

Sophomore tailback Kim Kent caught a 70-yard touchdown pass from quarterback E.J. Fitzgerald as the Poets (2-0, 1-0) downed the Redskins (0-2, 0-1).

Carver 18, Southern 12

Senior Thomas Jackson ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns to lead the host Bears (2-1, 2-0) over the Bulldogs (1-1, 0-1) in an MSA B Conference game.
