Man steals purse on Calvert Street
An Annapolis woman's purse was snatched Wednesday night as she was walking down Calvert Street near West Street, police said.
Deborah Fiuk of the 1600 block of Ridout Road told police she was near the corner at about 11:15 p.m. when a man grabbed her purse, containing $30, and ran toward Clay Street.
Boy, 8, is killed in bicycle collision
An 8-year-old boy was killed Wednesday when he crashed his bicycle into a parked truck on Ruby Cove Road, county police reported.
Investigators said Chad Muehlhuser of the 100 block of Askewton Road in Severna Park was riding his bike with some friends at 5:10 p.m. when he tried to turn into a driveway on Ruby Cove Road and collided with a parked Ford truck.
Police spokeswoman Officer Terry Robey said the child was apparently riding too fast and failed to negotiate the turn. He was also unable to stop before hitting the truck, she said.
The boy hit the truck's bed and received massive head injuries, investigators said.
The child was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:50 p.m.
8 arrested as police raid home for drugs
County and city police arrested eight people and say they seized a half-pound of marijuana worth $2,000 after they searched an Annapolis home Wednesday night.
At 9 p.m., officers searched the home, in the unit block of Jefferson Place, and seized 2.4 grams of marijuana, police said.
Those charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of marijuana are Issac Graham Kumer, 20, of the first block of Jefferson Place, and Gene Ross Kirchner, 21, of the same address.
Six others were charged with possession of marijuana: Alvin Leroy Tucker, 21, of the first block of Jefferson Place; Willis Lewin Usilton, 20, of the first block of Jefferson Place; Christian Michael Walton, 21, of the first block of Jefferson Place; Christian Jonathan Toher, 19, of the first block of Wainwright Avenue in Annapolis; Jonathan McClellan Sutton, 22, of the 1900 block of Dulany Place in Annapolis; and Darin Raymond Ward, 21, of the 800 block of St. Edmonds Place in Annapolis.
Man, 45, charged with exposure
A 45-year-old Annapolis man was charged with exposing himself Wednesday night while talking in a pay phone on Forest Drive, city police said.
Charles P. Sheppard of Mainsail Drive was arrested at 9:45 p.m. after neighbors near Bay Ridge Plaza called to complain about his behavior, police said.
Knife-wielding man robs gas station
A man with a steak knife robbed a Brooklyn Park gas station early yesterday morning, county police reported.
Investigators said the robber walked into the Crown gas station in the 5700 block of Ritchie Highway at 2:38 a.m. and demanded money from the clerk.
