* The Fall Maryland RV Show, said to be the largest recreational vehicle expo on the East Coast, continues through Sunday at the Timonium Fairgrounds. More than 85 brand names will be on display. Discount tickets are available from Maryland RV dealers. The show opens at noon daily. For more information, call (410) 687-7200.

* Starting Oct. 1, fees will be charged for camping at Savage River and Potomac-Garrett state forests in Garrett County. There will be a $2 charge for regular campsites and $5 for group sites. Campers using Savage River must register at New Germany State Forest, but campers using Potomac-Garrett may occupy sites without registering. Rangers will pick up fees while on regular patrol.

Campsites affected by the new policy include Wallamn, Laurel Run, Lostland Run, Snaggy Mountain Road and Piney Mountain Road in Potomac-Garrett and the white water area, Poplar Lick, Savage River Road and Elk Lick in Savage River State Forest.

* Applications for the sika deer hunt on Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge are available from the refuge administration office. Shotgun hunting in the lower areas of the refuge has been increased from four weeks to six, although no hunting may take place during the weeks of Christmas or New Year's Day or on Wednesdays. Archery season begins Oct. 26 and ends Nov. 7. Applications for the archery hunt must be received at the refuge or postmarked no later than Oct. 24. The firearms season begins Nov. 30, continues for three weeks and then resumes after New Year's week. Applications for the firearms hunt lottery must be received at the refuge by Oct. 23. The lottery drawing will be held on Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. in the refuge auditorium. A program for handicapped hunters also is available.
