Mercedes thief eludes police in pursuit
A man who stole a Mercedes from downtown Annapolis led police on a brief chase through the Clay Street neighborhood Tuesday afternoon before escaping into woods, city police said.
A police officer was responding to a disturbance call on Clay Street shortly after noon when the driver of the Mercedes noticed the flashing lights and took off, police said. The officer chased him across Glenwood Street to the Adams Park Learning Center, where he escaped into the woods.
The 1989 black Mercedes was reported stolen that morning by Steve Tedesco of the unit block of Conduit Street, police said.
Man steals $250 from woman at mall
A 25-year-old woman was robbed of $250 as she walked out of a toy store at the Glen Burnie Mall Tuesday morning.
Police said a man asked Jessica Elaine Risso, of Hanover, for the time as she left the Toys-R-Us store at about 11:15 a.m. The man then said, "Well, give me your wallet," police said.
The man then grabbed the billfold containing five $50 bills and ran away.
Marley Middle student cited for pager
A 12-year-old boy was cited by police Monday for carrying a pager into the Marley Middle School in Glen Burnie.
A police report said that when the pager went off during a 1 p.m. class, teacher Leslie Wilson found the device on the student.
