PHH Corp. is on the verge of rolling out a new product for its corporate fleet clients, the company's chairman said yesterday.

In an interview following a presentation to the Baltimore Security Analysts Society, the company's chairman, Robert D. Kunisch, said the new product -- known as "Vehicle Maintenance Assistance Plus" -- is one of several new services targeted to boost flat business at PHH Fleet America.

PHH America, an operating unit of Hunt Valley-based PHH Corp., now manages 350,000 vehicles in corporate fleets throughout the United States and Canada.

The new service product -- to be marketed as "VMA+" -- is an enhanced version of VMA, which has been available to PHH fleet customers for several years, said Michael Tumbarello, director of product development for PHH Fleet America.

Through the purchase of VMA+, customers will be entitled to a comprehensive road assistance and vehicle maintenance service, Mr. Tumbarello said.

By calling an 800 number when his vehicle breaks down, the corporate customer can reach a PHH technician who will direct him to the closest and best qualified service station in the PHH network, Mr. Tumbarello said.
