They're not all happy about it, but condominium owners a The Club at McDonogh Township today are expected to put up thousands of dollars in the first of three payments to fund structural repairs on eight Club buildings with deficiencies that have been the subject of controversy for years.

The community's board of directors has ordered the payments to continue repairs while it negotiates with a defunct developer, a homeowner's warranty company and Baltimore County over who ultimately must foot the bill.

Owners are required to pay fees of $3,600 to nearly $7,000 total, depending on the size of their units. Problems among the 125 units range from deteriorating balconies to water damage tenants blame on faulty construction.

William Wolf, president of the community board, said the board estimates repair costs at $650,000.
