Baltimore City

SHOOTING: Northwestern District -- Tobias Jones, 19, of the 4300 block of Fairfax Road, was today listed in serious condition at the University of Maryland Medical Center after being shot yesterday afternoon during an armed robbery. Mr. Jones was standing on a corner in the 3900 block of Belle Ave. at 3:30 p.m. when he was approached by two men who demanded his jewelry. When Mr. Jones turned to walk away, one of the men snatched a gold chain off his neck. The other man then pulled out a gun and shot Mr. Jones in the back. Both men escaped.

SHOOTING: Southeastern District -- Two men, one known as "Scrooge," are being sought in connection with the Sept. 4 shooting of a man in the 6300 block of Toone St. for no apparent reason.

ARRESTS: Central District -- Two teen-age boys were arrested Sunday and charged with assaulting and attempting to rob a woman in the first block of S. Calvert St. The victim, a resident of the 5600 block of Sinclair Lane, was struck several times by two youths who tried to steal her purse around 5:30 p.m. The youths were arrested before they could escape.

CUTTING/ARREST: Central District -- Morris Tucker, of the 5500 block of Price Ave., was cut on the left arm yesterday afternoon during an incident in the 200 block of W. Baltimore St. Arrested and charged with assault by cutting was William Powell, 25, of the 1600 block of Llewellyn Ave.

CAR-JACKING: Western District -- A man robbed a woman of her 1979 Buick last night while she was stopped in the 2300 block of Avalon Ave. After forcing the woman from her car, the man drove off toward Auchentoroly Terrace near Druid Hill Park.

MOPED-JACKING: Southeastern District -- A gray moped valued $1,000 and owned by a 32-year-old resident of the 6800 block of Dunbar Road was stolen yesterday by a teen-ager who pushed the man off at a red light in the 500 block of N. Kenwood Ave. yesterday morning.

ROBBERY: Central District -- A resident of the 2700 block of St. Paul St. was robbed of $15 Sunday in the 700 block of N. Charles St. by a man who threatened her with bodily injury.

ARREST: Central District -- Police arrested a man in the 100 block of E. Fayette St. Sunday and were holding him at the station pending attempted auto theft and related charges. Police said the man was attempting to break into a car owned by a resident of the 900 block of S. Charles St. when he was arrested without incident by officer Ronald Weinreich Jr.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Two men, one armed with a handgun, robbed a resident of the 100 block of W. Centre St. of $30 Sunday night as he walked in the first block of E. Biddle St.

BURGLARY/ARREST: Central District -- A 26-year-old man was arrested yesterday and charged with breaking into Modern Building Inc. in the first block of W. Mulberry St. Police responding to the scene shortly after 11 a.m. arrested James Hill, of the 2500 block of Barclay St., and recovered several pieces of property. Entry was gained by breaking the front window.

THEFT/ARREST: Central District -- Police arrested Earl Johnson, of the 2800 block of Ashland Ave., yesterday and charged him with breaking into two cars and stealing several pieces of property. One of the cars was parked in the 100 block of E. 20th St. and is owned by a resident of the first block of Edgeworth Court. The other car belonged to a resident of the 3700 block of Pikeswood Drive and was parked in the 100 block of E. 21st. Property taken from both cars was recovered from the suspect.

ARREST: Central District -- A 23-year-old resident of the 500 block of Bloom St. was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with attempting to break into a car parked in the 600 block of Lennox St. The suspect, Kevin Redfern, was to appear today at a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

ARREST: Central District -- A man with no permanent address was charged yesterday with breaking into a car in the 100 block of W. Lombard St. and attempting to steal property. Police said Maurice E. Lee, 29, was held overnight pending a bail hearing. The car was owned by a resident of the 13900 block of Annapolis Court, Anne Arundel County.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- A gunman wearing a stocking mask forced the manager of the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in the 3700 block of Pulaski Highway back into the store as she was leaving Sunday night and stole an undisclosed amount of money from a safe.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- A gunman entered Jack's Place, a bar in the 500 block of N. Luzerne Ave., around midnight Sunday and ordered the bartender to give him money from the cash register. The gunman escaped with a small sum of cash.

THEFT: Southeastern District -- Someone stole a wheel and tire from a 1971 Volkswagen while it was parked in the 200 block of S. Collington Ave. over the weekend. The equipment was valued at nearly $150.
