John Carroll Patriots

September 13, 1992

Head coach: Karen Bonsack (sixth season).

Assistant coaches: Tess Gauthier, Anne Mundth.

1991 record: 6-9-1, AIS B Division finalist.

Returnees: Seniors Mandy Gilbert (F), Janet Breen (D), Theresa Buppert (M), Sally Klopcic (F), Jen Lutz (M), Kate Nicodemus (M), Beth Thomey (D). Juniors Mollie Brumfield (F), Megan McGraw (M). Sophomore Megan Kwasniak (F).

Newcomers: Juniors Stacie Lort (M), Donna Brown (F), Mary Muller-Thym (F), Mary Nicodemus (D), Teri Tobash (M), Megan Early (F), Karen Trompeter (D), Raven Goel (F), Kelly Niewenhaus (M), Molly Boyle (M), Erin Dichiera (G).

Coach's outlook: "The goal the kids set is to win it all this year. I think they expect it of themselves this time. Last year, they never even fathomed getting to the final game. Now, they have higher expectations."

Harford Sun outlook: The Patriots return seven starters, but most are at midfield or on the line. Bonsack is reworking her defense where sweeper Thomey should be the anchor. Goalie Dichiera is also new, so that powerhouse line will have to score big early. The schedule is not kind to the Patriots, who open with A Division powers Notre Dame Prep, Bryn Mawr and St. Paul's. However, that should prepare the Patriots for their B Division competition. Look for the Patriots to make another run at the title this year.
