Havre de Grace Warriors

September 13, 1992

Head coach: Kathy Graybeal (first season).

Assistant coach: Rich Holly.

1991 record: 1-10.

Returnees: Senior Jennifer Lowery (D). Juniors Nicole Barker (F-M), Martha Boyle (G), Jamie Brogan (D), Jaime Fraser (F), Amanda Walke (F), Lisa Shiavi (M). Sophomores Jayme Baker (M), Trisha Oals (M), Jenny Supik (M), Cheyanna Turner (D).

Newcomers: Juniors Sara Sostrin (D), Annie Salazar (M). Sophomores Heidi Dodson (M), Sara Petty (D); freshmen Kristen Kim (F), Carrie McCone (F), Kim Kinder (F), Erin Bloom (D), Jen Browning (M).

Coach's outlook: "The girls set realistic goals. Their team goal is not to be undefeated -- they want to play better field hockey than they did last year, and they want to win more games. They won't be satisfied with one win, but they are taking them one game at a time."

Harford Sun outlook: Without a JV, Graybeal is coaching players at several levels of the game, and juggling that variety of skills is probably her biggest challenge. Eight starters return, but there are also five freshmen -- and at least one, McCone, will start. With Boyle and sweeper Brogan back, the defense is off to a good start. Fraser and Walke should be the top scorers, while Baker leads the midfield. The inexperience will be hard to overcome, but sheer determination gives the Warriors a shot at adding another win or two.
