Edgewood Rams

September 13, 1992

Head coach: Renda Respess (ninth season).

Assistant coaches: Joan Portanova, Michelle McGinley.

1991 record: 5-7.

Returnees: Seniors Kelly Rider (D), Nicole Chmura (D), Christie Santiago (M), Karin Blackburn (F), Holly Mohr (F), Becky Hoover (G), Tobea Cobb (D), Shonda McGrogan (F), Jeni Blubaugh (D). Juniors Lisa Fotia (M), Sara Bruch (G).

Newcomers: Juniors Tara Daw (F), Hillary Leader (F), Keri O'Connor (M), Melissa Thornton (M), Jaime Johnson (M).

Coach's outlook: "Our strength should be our seniors returning on defense. They have worked together defensively, so they know each others' moves. It shouldn't take half a season for them to start to communicate."

Harford Sun outlook: If there's a team to watch this year, it's the Rams. They lost only four players, so most of their strength is back. They could break out of the middle of the pack and give the county's perennial powers a run for the title. Defensively, goalie Hoover is solid, and sweeper Chmura will lead the field defenders. Fotia, who could emerge as one of the county's most dominating links, is the key to the midfield. She and fellow links Blubaugh and Johnson can play defense and score.
