Man, 31, charged in woman's attack

A 31-year-old man has been charged with assault with intent to rape, battery and false imprisonment in the attack of a woman in Havre de Grace last Sunday, police said.

Police arrested Duwayne Elliott Malloy of the 1100 block of Revolution St., Havre de Grace, near Union Avenue at Franklin Street shortly after the 2:30 a.m. attack, police said.

Witnesses identified the suspect to police, and he ran when an officer ordered him to stop, police said.

Officers apprehended the suspect near an open field a few blocks from the attack, which occurred in the 400 block of St. Johns St., police said.

The victim told police a man grabbed her by the throat from behind, forced her to the ground, struck her with a closed fist in the face and back, and tried to pull her into bushes, police said. She broke free and ran to a nearby bar, where a bartender called police.

The victim was treated for cuts and bruises at Harford Memorial Hospital and released.

Two men charged in theft from vehicle

Police arrested Shawn Michael Griffiths, 20, of Edgewood, and Darren Scott Rossignol, 20, of Joppa, and charged them with two counts each of theft and malicious destruction of property.

Police said a radio and radar detector were stolen Aug. 30 from a vehicle, and the door handle of the vehicle was damaged. The loss was valued at $320.

The incident occurred in the 900 block of Pier Drive, Edgewood.

Vandals damage van, steal contents

A Havre de Grace man reported that vandals had damaged his 1985 Toyota van Monday night while it was parked in the 300 block of Commerce St.

The passenger door window and right sliding door were damaged, and a radar detector, computer game and 10 cassette tapes were stolen.

* Bel Camp: 1200 block of Pearson Place: Destruction of vehicle window valued at $100.

* Edgewood: 2200 block of Hanson Road: Post office fence, vehicle damaged and battery stolen. Loss estimated at $250.

1700 block of Van Bibber Road: Theft of wallet containing money and personal papers from motel room. Loss valued at $92.

300 block Kennard Ave.: Theft of outboard motor valued at $400.

* Glenarm: Glenn Keld Road: Destruction to street light and telephone junction box at development under construction. Damage estimated at $1,250.

* Havre de Grace: 700 block of Green St.: Damage to vehicle door lock. Loss valued at $50.

400 block of Webb Lane: Car and truck spray painted. Damage estimated at $700.

1200 block of Revolution St.: Mountain bike valued at $105 stolen from convenience store customer by several men.
