Glenelg Gladiators 1992 Howard field hockey at a glance

September 13, 1992

Coach: Ginger Kincaid, 16th season

1991 record: 8-3-2

Returnees: Seniors Dana Hoffman (D), Kristen Turner (GK), Amy Dutra (F), Lisa Roscoe (L), Charlotte Cockrell (L), Heather Inkman (F), Melanie Richardson (F), Rebecca Ford (F), Christina Marchetti (D), Lory Wineman (D), Trish Slater (SW).

Newcomers to watch: Juniors Karyn Duff (F), Debbie West (L).

Coach's outlook: "Some of the kids who sat on the bench last year look just as strong as last year's starters. Our seniors have a way of coming through, even the ones who sat on the bench as juniors. Experience is our main strength. I think it's going to be a good year."

Howard County Sun outlook: So what else is new? The Gladiators are coming off their seventh county championship under Kincaid, they return five starters, and they will field an entire senior starting lineup. The tallest order will be replacing the 17 goals that graduated, in the form of All-County players Katie Stermer and Jen Anderson. Kincaid thinks players like Inkman and Richardson are up to the task. She's usually right about these things. Glenelg is still shooting for its first state championship.
